AMBERT 2017 - THE 2nd MODERN EDITION
On June 30th, July 1st and 2nd, the second edition of the Concours de Machines took place in the framework of the cyclosportive "Les Copains", in Ambert. Twenty-four manufacturers from all over the world presented the bikes made especially for the occasion and put them to the test on very demanding courses.
Themes and Events
Each participant came with a bike specially made for the occasion on the theme of "light hiker". Their reliability was tested on two routes of 225 and 100km between roads and paths, made even more demanding by the difficult weather conditions. A jury of experts as well as the manufacturers themselves and the public evaluated the quality of construction, the weight and the degree of innovation of each machine.
Day 1: Departure at night in small groups from 4.30 in the morning. On the programme 225 km of gravel (80%) and road (20%) in rain and wind.
2nd day : Departure for the climb of the Béal with the competitors of the cyclo les copains. Recovery of a 3 kilos weight to carry on the bike then 2 obligatory crossing points before the return to Ambert.
